Treatment of cystitis of non-infectious nature is reduced to removing the irritant factor and relieving inflammation of the bladder tissues. In this case, even a single herbal treatment with a choice of plants that provide diuretic and anti-inflammatory effect is enough. True, there is a risk that self-medication can lead to complications, ie, to the attachment of bacterial infection. And then you can't do without antibiotics.
Inflammation of the bladder in some cases is caused by viruses. Although these situations are much rarer, it is important to know that the treatment of non-bacterial cystitis differs from the treatment of inflammation caused by bacteria and protozoa. With viral infection, immunotherapy comes to the forefront, because the immune system is able to cope with most viruses. And already to help her in the detection of a persistent virus can be prescribed antiviral drugs.
Many herbs have the ability to influence our immunity. Echinacea, eleutherococcus, ginseng, rhodiola rosea are primarily responsible for increasing general immunity, preventing the virus from entering the body, its introduction into living cells and the active reproduction of pathogens. Taking inside decoctions and infusions of these plants, we carry out the prevention of many infectious diseases, including cystitis.
With the viral nature of cystitis, such treatment gives the body the strength to effectively fight the infection, which means that they can be included in the composition of a complex treatment, which also provides for the use of diuretics, anti-inflammatory, anti-inflammatory, tonic agents.
It should be said that many herbs contain useful vitamins and trace elements, so using them for cystitis, we get a general tonic effect. In addition, some of the plants that have diuretic, anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial action, also help to increase local immunity. Such plants include chamomile, yarrow, St. John's wort, cowberry, as well as melissa, cranberry, elderberry and many other plants that are useful to take both in infectious and non-bacterial cystitis.
It can be said that herbal treatment of viral cystitis is generally similar to the treatment of the common bacterial form of the disease. You can use the same herbs and plants, emphasizing the compositions that stimulate immunity and increase the body's defenses, reducing the sensitivity of bladder tissue to infection. By taking such natural remedies internally, we achieve that they affect both blood and urine, healing not only the bladder, but also the entire urinary system.
Recently, chlamydia infection (its peculiarity is that chlamydia is an intracellular parasite with properties of both bacteria and viruses), as well as infections caused by protozoa: giardia, trichomonads, etc., have become widespread. They can enter the bladder both through the blood and from outside (from the genitals and perineum into the urethra and further down the urinary tract).
Medics, having determined the type of parasite, prescribe the appropriate drug treatment. But to make it more effective, you can supplement traditional therapy with herbal medicine (with the doctor's permission!).
Most often cystitis is caused by protozoa, sexually transmitted. We are talking about trichomonads, provoking severe inflammation of tissues. These parasites are very sensitive to antibacterial drugs from the group of imidazoles (as well as some other protozoa). A single intake of a certain dose of antibiotics is enough to destroy the infection completely.
Despite the fact that such treatment can be prescribed even to pregnant women, many, having a biased attitude to antibiotics, do not want to resort to it, so they are looking for other methods of combating protozoa, often turning to folk treatment.
It can be said that some herbs, and indeed, have a high activity against protozoa. Among such herbs can be distinguished: Amur or common barberry, leaves and buds of birch, immortelle, bitterbush (Sossyurea willowleaf).
Barberry
Barberry has antiparasitic, antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, analgesic, styptic and diuretic properties. These properties can be useful in the treatment of any form and variety of cystitis, and the healing properties have bark, root, fruit and leaves of the plant. Leaves and ripe fruits can be added to salads and other dishes, adding a pleasant sourness, but the decoction of the bark and roots of the plant can be taken for cystitis as a medicine three times a day 1 tsp.
Prepare a decoction at the rate of 10 g of plant material per 200 ml of water. Boil it for half an hour, then leave to infuse for at least 45 minutes, strain, bring boiled water to the initial volume and use as above.
Decoction of barberry is not recommended for pregnant women, as well as patients with severe liver disease, gallstones (has a pronounced choleretic effect), with increased blood clotting. [1]
Birch buds
Birch buds, collected in early spring during the budding, have anti-inflammatory, diuretic, antiseptic, antiviral, antifungal, antifungal, tonic action, as well as effective against protozoa. It is a universal remedy for cystitis caused by different pathogens (bacterial, viral, fungal, caused by protozoa and non-infectious).
From birch buds can be prepared healing decoction. For a glass of boiling water take 1 tbsp. With a handful of plant material (leaves or buds), boil over low heat for 20 minutes, then remove and leave to infuse for 3 hours.
Take a decoction of birch buds twice a day, 1 cup. It is best to do this half an hour before meals. Such a drink will cleanse the bladder and strengthen the body as a whole.
Infusion of birch leaves in cystitis is used for sitting baths. Three-liter jar is filled halfway with birch leaves, filled to the top with boiling water, wrapped and left to infuse for 2 hours. In a bowl pour 10 liters of water heated to a warm state, add the same strained infusion of birch buds and take a sitting bath for half an hour, periodically pouring hot water.
Contraindication to the use of birch buds can only serve as an individual intolerance to the plant, which manifests itself in the form of allergic reactions. [2]
Immortelle
Recipes from immortelle have antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory properties, doctors believe that they are also effective against protozoa.
With cystitis is effective peroral administration of the infusion of dried flowers of the plant. It is prepared as follows: 10 g of plant raw material is poured 2 cups of boiling water and insist in warmth (better to use a thermos) for at least 1 hour.
Take the infusion course of 20 days, 1.5 cups in 3 receptions. Drink the infusion is better half an hour before meals.
This recipe will also help those in whom the cause of cystitis was a worm infestation.
Compositions based on immortelle should not be taken for a long time, because the accumulation of active substances in the body leads to the appearance of symptoms of overdose. Do not use them for pregnant women, nursing moms, people with high acidity of gastric juice, with liver disease manifested as jaundice. [3]
Sossyurea willowleaf
Malotoxic plant with a pronounced antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory effect, used for the treatment and prevention of infection with giardia and trichomonads, which can cause the development of cystitis. Additionally, the herb contributes to the normalization of intestinal microflora, which has a beneficial effect on its purification (regular stool allows you to remove harmful substances from the body, poisoning it and provoking inflammatory processes) and the state of immunity. [4]
In cystitis caused by protozoa, it is indicated to take an infusion of sossyurea. For a glass of boiling water take 1 tbsp. Crushed plant material (can be purchased in a pharmacy) and leave to infuse for 3 hours. The strained composition is drunk three times a day, 1 tbsp.
If there are no contraindications to the reception of alcoholic compositions can be used tincture sossyurea. Plant and vodka are taken in a ratio of 1 to 10, leave the composition in a dark place for 14 days. Take three times a day for half an hour before meals. Recommended single dose of 20-30 drops diluted in ½ cup of water. Therapy of cystitis tincture is carried out for no more than 2 weeks.
It is believed that the plant should not be used in case of high blood clotting and tendency to thrombosis, hypotension, chronic constipation and intestinal obstruction. It is also undesirable to take the plant during pregnancy or lactation.
